Information for 8th Grade

Hunterdon Central Regional High School
Greetings from Hunterdon Central Regional High School! We are excited to welcome the future Class of 2030 to our high school in September 2026. Between now and then, we will be communicating to you important information to assist you and your child with the transition to high school.
Below are important dates to mark on your calendar in preparation for 2026-2027 course scheduling that will take place in early February.

  • Thursday, January 15, 2026 - Hunterdon Central is hosting an Open House and Electives Exploration from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All 8th graders and parents/guardians are invited to attend. A special presentation for 8th grade families will be provided by administration and counselors first at 6:30 p.m. and then you will have the opportunity to speak with teachers and department supervisors, and learn more about our elective courses to assist with scheduling.
  • January 15, 2026 - On or around this date, parents/guardians of 8th grade students will receive their child’s login credentials for Hunterdon Central’s Genesis portal, the district’s student information system. This is a separate portal from the Genesis site you currently use for your K-8 district. Course requests for the 2026-2027 school year will need to be entered through Genesis. More information on scheduling to come! (Note: Genesis logins for parents will be sent later in the spring prior to fall sports registration opening.)
  • February 7-16, 2026 - 8th grade students will work with their current counselor to enter course requests into Genesis for the 2026-2027 school year. Hunterdon Central counselors are available to assist as well.

Hunterdon Central offers extensive academic opportunities for students, including specialized academies in our Magnet Program and numerous electives offered in the 9th grade. Our course selections, as well as our clubs and activities, are driven by student interest so there is something for everyone at Hunterdon Central. We encourage you to review our Program of Studies website before you begin scheduling for the 2026-2027 school year.

Also, please save the date for our general Open House on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. during which 8th grade students and their families can tour campus, explore Hunterdon Central’s extracurricular activities, and become more familiar with the high school. Detailed information for this event will be sent as we get closer to May.

For now, we want to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year. We look forward to connecting with you in the New Year.
